Dean's Weekly Message

December 1, 2014

Dear colleague:

I left early last Monday morning for a week in south Florida, so I don’t have a lengthy report about what went on here last week other than the two-day visit of Mary Klotman, MD, the third and final candidate invited to interview for the position of dean of the School of Medicine and vice chancellor for health affairs. If you’ve missed hearing any of the three finalists speak or want more information about them, visit our website. And if you were part of the sessions with any of them, please get your feedback to Carolyn Goble quickly.

I hope everyone had a pleasant Thanksgiving holiday. Annual appreciation events and some holiday receptions, dinners and parties get into full swing this week. I have avoided almost all of them the past several years, but may try to get to as many as I can this year just to stop by and wish everyone a happy holiday season though I do not need to eat the 40+ dinners I have been invited to in the remaining 23 days of the calendar year.

Last week I mentioned that the Denver Post’s Sunday (Nov. 16) edition included a page of nominees for its first Strength in Healthcare Awards. The names of the nominees were not available online at that time, but you can find a list of our nominated faculty posted here. The awards will be presented in January. And there was a nice write-up of the Bow Tie Ball in the Sunday, Nov. 23, Denver Post.

Have a good week,

Richard D. Krugman, MD
Vice Chancellor for Health Affairs and
Dean, School of Medicine
