iTeach is a voluntary peer mentorship program and consists of observation of teaching followed by a feedback session. Established in 2011 and directed by the Academy of Medical Educators, iTeach serves faculty of all branches and affiliates of the University of Colorado School of Medicine.
An Academy member (the mentor) who has been trained in observation and feedback techniques observes a colleague (the mentee) in a teaching session one or more times, and gives feedback afterward. These sessions can be requested by individual faculty members, course and clerkship directors, etc. In this mentee-driven process, the mentor will observe and give feedback on lecture session, small group teaching or clinical teaching. This feedback will be privileged and not shared with others.
