GME Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

At the University of Colorado School of Medicine Graduate Medical Education (GME), we value diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) as fundamental principles that guide our actions and decisions. We are committed to creating a diverse environment that fosters belonging where every member of our community feels valued, respected, and supported.  We value the lived experiences that enhance our GME community, including race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, age, ability and socioeconomic status. We strive to foster a culture of openness and understanding, where all individuals share their perspectives and experiences, and learn from each other in a welcoming space. In addition to being a moral imperative, our commitment to DEI is essential to achieving our academic mission of providing excellent patient care and advancing knowledge through teaching and research with an ultimate goal of health equity for our patients and community.  We believe an inclusive environment is integral for promoting critical thinking and in supporting our students, residents, fellows and faculty as responsible and engaged global citizens.

Medical Resident Group

The Minority and Allied Resident Council (MARC)

The Minority and Allied Resident Council was founded to create a space to connect minorities and allies to each other across specialties and hospitals, to grow a community for support and healing, and to craft a collective voice for minority residents and fellows on our campuses. It exists within the CU School of Medicine’s Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion and through support from the CU Alumni office. In addition to community building, we are committed to enabling mentorship from minority faculty, providing mentorship for medical and pipeline students, scholarship in diversity, equity and inclusion, minority patient community outreach and recruitment of diverse and inclusive candidates to our graduate medical programs. We are always looking for leaders and allies to join our mission. Please consider joining the council by signing up here: https://forms.gle/JjtE8Vzq3rwNQeus6, or contacting:
