To develop skills in identifying and stabilizing
critically ill patients and engaging in interprofessional care within an
advanced clinical setting, all students must fulfill a longitudinal critical
care learning experience in Alpine-Summit. To meet this requirement, students can complete a 4-week Acting Internship in an intensive care unit (ICU) at a CU School of Medicine (SOM) core site (which counts toward both the Acting internship and Critical Care graduation requirements), complete a 4-week Elective in an ICU at a CU SOM core site, or complete a 2-week clinical elective called IDPT 8097 Alpine Critical Care Rotation. This elective integrates a
clinical ICU immersion at a SOM core site with didactics/skills sessions
addressing essential critical care topics.
