To identify and stabilize critically ill patients, describe the unique processes of care in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and engage in interprofessional learning and care in an advanced clinical setting, all students complete a longitudinal acute and critical care learning experience in Alpine/Summit. Students must complete either a two-week Alpine Critical Care Rotation (IDPT 8096) or a four-week ICU rotation of their choice to meet this requirement. The Alpine Critical Care Rotation (IDPT 8096) is offered across multiple ICU settings and combines a clinical experience with structured didactic sessions covering core critical care content. Alternatively, students may fulfill this requirement by completing a four-week ICU rotation; some of these rotations also meet criteria for the Acting Internship requirement, though not all qualify.
