Applicant Pool

For the 2021-2022 application season, we had 10,897 primary applications from AMCAS and reviewed 5,593 completed applications.  Of the completed applications, approximately 12% of these came from residents of the state of Colorado. 

The Admissions Committee interviewed 723 applicants for our incoming class of 2026. In the entering CUSOM Class of 2026, 54% identify as female and 46% identify as male or non-binary, 17% are first-generation students, and 27% are from backgrounds underrepresented in medicine. The average age is 25. The range of ages is 21 years old to 37 years old.

Our Admissions Process

Secondary applications are requested from selected candidates. We do not send secondary applications to all applicants. Once the secondary application is completed and the $100 secondary application fee is paid (waived for FAP applicants), files are reviewed for consideration for interview. 

Applicants are required to obtain three to five letters of recommendation to support their candidacy for admission. Students are interviewed on Wednesdays and Fridays. Interviews begin in September and conclude in February. Interviews are conducted in a mixed format - interviews for the 2022-2023 season will be virtual.
