The Department of Orthopedics is excited to announce plans for the creation of Colorado’s first Orthopedic Tissue Biobank. The mission of the Tissue Biobank is to create a biorepository of human tissues from consenting patients undergoing orthopedic procedures. In addition, we would like to build a research database containing selected supporting clinical data about the patients from which the samples came, such as age, gender, and medication use. Our goal is to collect, process, and analyze tissues, such as bone, cartilage, synovium, ligaments and tendons. We will use these tissues to increase our understanding of orthopedic diseases and to promote translational research.
