Musculoskeletal oncology, also referred to as orthopedic oncology or orthopedic surgical oncology, is a specialized field within orthopedic surgery focused on diagnosing and treating tumors. At the University of Colorado, including the University of Colorado Hospital and Children’s Hospital of Colorado, our orthopedic surgical oncologists collaborate with radiologists, and pathologists, utilizing diagnostic tools such as Radiographs, CT scans, MRI scans, and biopsies for accurate assessment and staging of tumors. Tailoring treatment options, including surgery, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy, to the specific tumor type, stage, and the patient's overall health, our multidisciplinary sarcoma team provides comprehensive care. We also offer follow-up monitoring to prevent tumor recurrence, ensuring optimal outcomes for our patients.
