With women representing only 7.5% of orthopedic surgeons in the U.S., being a female orthopedic resident offers a distinct and meaningful experience. At the University of Colorado, all residents are encouraged to connect with faculty for mentorship and guidance throughout their training.
Residents also have the opportunity to mentor members of the Women in Orthopedics Interest Group, a community at the University of Colorado Medical School that welcomes anyone who supports the advancement of women in orthopedic medicine. The group meets a few times a year to discuss topics such as clinical rotations, residency applications, and interview preparation.

Pride Ortho is a community of proactive lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer (LGBTQ+) individuals and their allies with a mission to provide mentorship, networking in a safe space, and a sense of belonging for members of the orthopedic community.
