Research Objectives

Our translational research focuses on understanding the pathogenesis and management of injuries to the foot and ankle and the pathogenesis of post-traumatic osteoarthritis. Our goals include (1) understanding injury mechanisms, prevention, and optimal management following an injury to return athletes to sport in a safe and expeditious way, (2) understanding clinical outcomes using PRO metrics in our orthopaedic clinics, (3) elucidating the pathogenesis of osteoarthritis in various joints, (4) understanding the pathologic impact of obesity and other comorbid conditions on development and prevention of osteoarthritis, and (5) developing disease-modifying treatments for osteoarthritis. Our lab members also conduct patient-reported outcomes research in elite athletes and quality improvement research in orthopedic surgery.
