The 21st Annual CU Sports Medicine Fall Symposium will be held Friday, September 11th at the Stadium Club at Folsom Field in Boulder, Colorado. The focus of this year's course is on the diagnosis, treatment, and rehab of upper extremity injuries.
Upper Extremity Focus
This year's course centers on the diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of upper extremity injuries in the active patient and competitive athlete.
In Person or Virtual
Attend at Folsom Field or register virtually. The virtual option is not live streamed; recorded presentations are sent to all attendees after the conference.
CME & CEU Credit
CME credit is offered to in-person attendees only. CEUs are offered to both in-person and virtual attendees.
Multidisciplinary Faculty
Physicians, surgeons, physical therapists, athletic trainers, and researchers from CU Sports Medicine and beyond.
Keynote Speaker
John D. Kelly IV, MD
Featured Keynote Address
Professor of Orthopedic Surgery and Director of Shoulder Sports Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, Neer Award recipient for his research in the throwing athlete, and a nationally known voice on physician leadership, well-being, and personal balance.

John D. Kelly IV attended Columbia University in New York where he received the Class of '19 Football cup awarded to the varsity football player with the highest academic average, in addition to attaining "Delaware All American" status. He graduated with Honors at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine where he received the Swain Award for "easing the burden of fellow students", the Pharmacology Prize, and the CIBA award for patient communication skills.
He serves as Professor of Orthopedic Surgery and Director of Shoulder Sports Medicine at Penn and recently received the Neer Award for his research in the throwing athlete. He has a profound interest in physician leadership development and well-being, and he lectures and has written extensively on matters of wellness and personal balance. He also is a standup comedian and has appeared on "Oprah Radio" and in Atlantic City.
Dr. Kelly has served in various leadership positions including President of the Penn Ortho Society, President of the Philadelphia Chapter of the Lumen Institute, President of the Eastern Orthopaedic Association, Board of Trustees of the Arthroscopy Journal, Board of Trustees of OREF, President of AANA, and Vice Chair of the Council of Delegates of the AOSSM. He has received numerous awards for both teaching and clinical excellence, and serves as adjunct faculty in the McNulty Leadership Program at Wharton.
Dr. Kelly has been married to the love of his life, Marie S. Kelly, for 39 years, and they are the proud parents of twin daughters Mary Boling, MBA, and Ann Marie, MD.
