History of MRC

In January 2006, Mark Erickson, MD, MMM and James Carollo, PhD, PE envisioned a collaborative clinical research program within the orthopedic surgery section of Children’s Hospital Colorado. In Spring 2006, the MRC was established with Dr. Carollo as the Director. In Fall 2006, Nancy Miller, MD was recruited as MRC Medical Director. The MRC’s unique funding model provides long-term funding stability and ensures faculty commitment to supporting research infrastructure through personal financial investment.

Organization

The MRC includes 14 full-time research assistants, 2 part-time statisticians, 14 orthopedic surgeons, and 5 primary care sports medicine physicians. The MRC facilitates research mentorship for fellows, residents, medical students, and undergraduate summer interns. Research conducted at the MRC spans a variety of pediatric musculoskeletal specialties. **Please refer to the tabs for each musculoskeletal specialty and descriptions about specific research.
