Research in the General Orthopedic Program investigates orthopedic conditions including clubfoot, hip dysplasia, spinal deformities, and fractures. Efforts are directed toward improving quality outcomes for patients with these common orthopedic conditions.
Trends in Trampoline FracturesWe conducted a study observing trends in pediatric trampoline fractures between 2008-2017. We found that 1) the incidence of pediatric trampoline-related fractures increased on average about 4% each year, and 2) there
was an average 32% annual increase in pediatric trampoline-related fractures occurring at places of recreation or sport during the decade evaluated. This study was pr
esented at the American Academy of Pediatrics 2019 National Conference and is accepted
for publication in Pediatrics
ClubfootOur study demonstrated that the initial Dimeglio score is correlated with the number of casts required for correction in Ponseti-treated idiopathic clubfoot. This elucidates that the Dimeglio score may help physicians plan for future procedures
