As clinicians continue to study the mental health effects of long COVID, Dr. Heather Murray shares her thoughts on rising symptoms of depression, anxiety or PTSD after initial infection of COVID in an article for WebMD.
Dr. Christopher Schneck shared information for a new study of serotonin imbalance anddepression on a live radio interview on KOA 850/94.1 FM.
AWARDS
Christina Metcalf, PhD, received an award from the Ludeman Center for Women's Health Research under the Women's Health Innovation Scholar program (WHINS). The WHINS program aims to support early career scientists with grant support and mentoring. The program provides salary and project support funds for two years. Dr. Neill Epperson, MD, Dr. Mary Sammel, ScD, and Dr. Laura Anthony, PhD will serve as Dr. Metcalf's mentors.
Emily Hemendinger, MPH, LCSW, received a new credential of Approved Clinical Supervisor through the center for credentialing and education (CCE). The CCE Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS) Program includes a credential that identifies those mental health professionals who have met national professional supervision standards. The ACS promotes the clinical supervisor's professional identity, visibility, andaccountability and encourages professional growth. Additionally, she presented for the American Public Health Association's Public Health Education and Health Promotion section and Mental Health section on creative ways to engage participants in online learning.
SHOUTOUTS
Alongside Aurora Public Schools (which also received the grant), the department will develop pathway programs that include both week-long intensives and year-round internships to help diverse high school students explore and learn about careers in STEM and mental health.

On July 20, 2022, Michael H. Allen, MD, Bev Marquez, CEO and Erik Jacobsen from the Colorado Crisis Hub, presented "988 Crisis Jam" behavioral health and suicide prevention crisis hotline
