Clinical Services

We treat people of all ages from birth through adulthood. We offer psychotherapy and medications when needed. We believe that everyone is unique, and while people may share similar symptoms, the approach to treatment should be based on individual goals, lived experiences, and the present situation. We utilize a range of evidence-based practices and will work with you to decide which is the best fit.

The Stress Continuum Model

In order to personalize the treatments we use an overarching approach called the Attachment, Regulation and Competency (ARC) Framework, which incorporates effective and evidence-based treatments and more. Often, at the heart of youth’s psychological injuries are issues with:

  • Attachment :Lack of trust in people and institutions
  • Self-Regulation:  Moodiness, anger, impulsivity, etc.
  • Competency : Difficulty making good decisions and choices

We use treatments and interventions that have proven to be effective, and believe that relationships are crucial for any treatment to be effective. Stress and trauma often cause issues beyond typical symptoms of Depression, Anxiety and Posttraumatic Stress Disorder that are addressed by the ARC Framework.

Anyone with a history of traumatic exposures during their life may develop issues with mood, anxiety, Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, substance use, etc. Often these responses are triggered by recent events or by an accumulation of stressors.

We utilize a range of treatment approaches and effective practices. However, we will collaborate with you to tailor the treatment to your particular wants and needs. If you have a particular treatment in mind, please ask and we will do our best to accommodate.

We have a special expertise in the treatment of Responders. We recognize that there is a wide range of Responders beyond the traditional Police, Fire and EMS personnel. We understand that others such as utility workers, medical professionals and caseworkers often work under highly stressful conditions and encounter extremely distressing events. These experiences result in many issues including psychological symptoms, relational problems and decreased job performance.  Tragically, suicide is more much more common for Responders and more die by suicide than in the line of duty.

We understand the difficulties that result from work stress and exposures as stress injuries and we utilize a model developed by the Marine Corp called the Stress Continuum that has been applied to various settings and professions. The encourage Responders to use the continuum as a self-assessment tool, in order to provide those affected by single incident or cumulative stress to detect early and late changing reactions caused by overwhelming stress.
