Dr. Andrew Novick and Dr. Scott Thompson are featured in a UCHealth Today article that highlights their work on the psilocybin clinical trial for depression that is set to start this fall. “For people with depression, there are circuits in the brain that are not working properly. And the compounds in psilocybin may help restore and repair those circuits so the circuits behave properly,” Thompson said. “We don’t know exactly how, but psilocybin may essentially fix a broken brain.”
Dr. Dana Steidtmann talks about women’s mental health as a result of moving to "picturesque destinations" during the pandemic in an article for Womens Health Magazine.Angela Bonaguidi, LCSW, LAC, MAC, is featured in a Pew article that mentions the new state rules allowing clinics to provide more customized care for opioid treatment while at the same time destigmatizing the use of methadone by allowing the treatment programs to dispense take-home methadone without prior approval from state authorities.

Dr. Melissa Batt is featured in a CU Anschutz News article that discusses the pros and cons of social media and self-diagnosis for children, adolescents, and young adults. "I think that’s what social media was designed to do, to create connection and community, and I love that people are trying to find each other and having more conversations about mental health, but there’s a lot of misinformation out there, and if you want to believe something, there’s a lot of good and bad information to support you." -Dr. Batt.
Dr. Ron-Li Liaw is featured in a Pueblo Chieftain article on breaking down mental health stigma during Mental Health Awareness month. “Our young people have a different vocabulary, language and comfort level in sharing their struggles and supporting each other and talking about mental health challenges and substance use, addiction issues and trauma in a way that our previous generations really (didn’t)," she said.

Dr. Liz Chamberlain presented a workshop titled "Caring for Others Without Losing Yourself" at the annual OBGYN Staff Retreat held at The Main Event in Highlands Ranch on May 12.Rachel Davis, MD and Emily Hemendinger, MPH, LCSW presented “Mental Health and Diabetes Annual patient-centered conference: Empowering Patients for Individualized Care (EPIC)” at The Barbara Davis Center for Diabetes and the Children's Diabetes Foundation where they discussed depression, anxiety, eating disorders, disordered eating, and general mental health and diabetes.
Emily Hemendinger, Stephanie Lehto, Maritza Martinez, and Rachel Davis presented at the CU Queer Futures Symposium at University of Colorado-Colorado Springs (UCCS) about Sexuality and OCD.
