Dr. Alexis Ritvo featured in a Psychology Today article that discusses Benzodiazepines linked to long-term neurological dysfunction. “Despite the fact that benzodiazepines have been widely prescribed for decades,” commented Ritvo in a press release accompanying publication, “this survey presents significant new evidence that a subset of patients experiences long-term neurological complications”.Dr. Ritvo is also featured in a Medical Xpress article that shares how benzodiazepines can also be associated with brain injury, job loss and suicide.
Dr. Shaleah Dardar is featured in a CU Anschutz News titled “Improving the Lives of Black Mothers and Their Children”. “Illustrating her commitment to the power of community, psychiatrist Shaleah Dardar, MD, co-facilitates the Black Mamas Circle, a free weekly peer-to-peer mental health support group for pregnant and postpartum African American and Black-identifying women.”
TEDx speaker and emergency veterinarian, Dr. Sarah Hoggan joins members of the CU Anschutz OCD Program, Dr. Rachel Davis, Emily Hemendinger, LCSW, MPH, and Maritza Martinez to discuss how OCD and anxiety can interact with pet ownership in this recording.
Dr. Jonathon Loring is featured in a Denver7 article that shares the first licensed detox facility for adolescents in Denver Health campus.“It’s very uncommon to struggle with a substance use disorder and not have depression or anxiety. Or someone who has depression or anxiety who has never dabbled in or thought about substances,” said Dr. Loring.
ANNOUNCEMENTS AND AWARDS
Dr. Dani Cooke has been selected as a recipient for the Ludeman Center Early-Career Faculty Development Award, a 25k grant. Her grant is titled “Predicting Postpartum Depressive Symptoms and Screening using a Machine Learning Approach”.
PRI Research Operations has been conferred the 2023 CU Innovation and Efficiency Program Award.This annual award, presented by the CU Office of Controller, recognizes unconventional initiatives that have successfully enhanced cost savings, time management, and overall efficiency in various departmental and university operations, including research. Congratulations to Merlin Ariefdjohan and collaborators: Claudia Iannelli, Anna Belyavskaya, Kasey Abrahamson, Jessica Holmes, Eliza Elliotte and Perla Rodriguez.
