Living in Denver

Choosing where you spend your residency should be based on program quality and personal lifestyle. Selecting Denver as the city where you live for your residency is an easy sell. Talking with current residents, you will hear testimony about local concerts, dinners in LoDo (Lower Downtown), and weekend mountain biking in the front-range foothills. With the closest ski resort within a 45-minute drive, it is not uncommon during a winter season to manage up to 30 days on the slopes.

Today, the six-county metro area has a population of 2.4 million, making it the 20th largest metro area and the 10th largest downtown area in America. Situated at the base of the eastern slope of the Rocky Mountains and at a mile above sea level, Denver’s climate is mild and dry with sunshine about 300 days a year. Denverites enjoy extensive city and mountain park systems that offer biking/jogging and hiking trails, golfing, boating, climbing, and trout fishing. Denver also has a diverse cultural community: the Colorado Symphony Orchestra, Denver Center for the Performing Arts, art and natural history museums, a zoo, and several indoor/outdoor concert venues, including Red Rocks Amphitheatre.

The Student Resources, Support, and Services, mission is to enhance student life at the Anschutz Medical Campus of the University of Colorado Denver by providing excellence in specific non-academic and academic student services.

Students who have been admitted into their respective school/program or who are currently enrolled utilize the Student Assistance Office's many services during their tenure at the Anschutz Medical Campus. All students may utilize the services of this office - we are here for you!

With an annual average of 300 days of sunshine, Colorado provides the outdoor enthusiast ample opportunity to explore the beauty of the Rocky Mountain region. From exceptional bike trails to the playgrounds of the mountains, the Centennial State suffers no shortage of options for the active lifestyle.

Throughout the entire calendar year, pro sports are on the field, court or rink in the Mile High City. Home to pro sports franchises in all major sports, the sports fan can regularly enjoy the in-person viewing experience here in Denver.
