How long have you worked with CU, DFM, or SNOCAP?
Almost 10 years.
Bio:
Dr. Nease is Associate Professor of Family Medicine at the University of Colorado – Denver, where he serves as the Green-Edelman Chair for Practice Based Research, Director of Community Engagement for the Colorado Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute, Vice Chair for Community in the Department of Family Medicine and Director of the SNOCAP Practice Based Research Network Collaborative. He also serves as President of the International Balint Federation (balintinternational.com).
He completed his undergraduate degree and medical school at the University of Kansas, residency at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston and a Faculty Development Fellowship at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill. He works this territory from the level of individual interactions to community to community and population-based interventions.
Special Interests:
Reading German detective novels, in German; improve health in partnership with communities, patients, clinicians and their practices.
Interesting Facts:
As a resident I was part of an AAFP committee that produced a small book on practice-based research.

How long have you worked with CU, DFM, or SNOCAP?
I began with HPRN as a student worker in January 2014 and officially joined the SNOCAP staff in June 2015!
Bio:
Mary Fisher, MPH, is an Instructor and the Associate Director for the SNOCAP Practice-Based Research Networks based out of the University of Colorado's Department of Family Medicine (CU DFM). She is also a project manager for a COCONet project (MI4MI) and with CCTSI Community Engagement where she works with the Community Research Liaisons and various committees and programs. Mary has been with CU DFM and CCTSI for nearly 6 years in which time she has managed and facilitated a number of research projects and programs, including managing the Colorado Research Network’s (CaReNet) Patient Advisory Council (PAC).
Special Interests:
Anything outdoors-y, DIY projects and home renovation, thrifting, nutrition and dietetics, community and patient engagement.
Intersting Facts:
Growing up, my cousins owned a small ice cream shop. I still strive to find the best local ice cream anywhere I go!
Allison Sands

I joined the Department of Family Medicine in 2021.
Bio:
Allison Sands is a Business Services Professional in the Department of Family Medicine, providing administrative support for SNOCAP and for DFM’s research group. Allison completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Pennsylvania and has a lot of opinions about Philadelphia sports mascots.
Special Interests:
Cooking/baking, live music, video games, and reading.
Intersting Facts:
I used to foster and bottle-feed neonatal kittens. If you ever find a kitten outside (it happens more often than you think) I can help!
Sindy Gonzalez, MPH

8 months (started August 2020).
Bio:
Sindy grew up in Northern Colorado. She obtained a Bachelor’s of Anthropology from Metropolitan State University of Denver and a Master of Public Health from Grand Canyon University. Sindy is also fluent in Spanish.
Special Interests:
Traveling, hiking, volunteering, attending concerts, reading, and doing 5ks.
Interesting Facts:
I love baseball, I’m a San Francisco Giants fan! I’ve wanted to work in research since grade school.

Bio:
Taryn works for the Department of Family Medicine and has a great passion for giving back to others in the community. Xe is heading up the Giving Back to Health program within the department to help create social and physical environments that promote good health for all!

Spinning yarn from wool.
