Family Medicine Career Center

Get to Know Us

The University of Colorado’s Department of Family Medicine (DFM) is on a mission to heal, teach, discover, and connect. Together. With the collaboration of almost 300 faculty and staff, not to mention the support and resources on the Anschutz Medical Campus, the DFM is a great place to work and learn!

We’re transforming the healthcare you receive so that it becomes high quality care that is a good value—and so that all your health needs are addressed in a coordinated, integrated fashion. We are also training people to give that kind of healthcare, and we support research that answers the questions about the best possible care. We are not only a member of the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus family, but we are also part of the community around us—in fact, we serve as a bridge between the two, bringing the resources of each to the other. We believe that an academic health center should participate in the life of the community in which it is embedded, and that we should grow and succeed together.

There are several words we use a lot around here: Service, Innovation, Collaboration. These words signify values that we hope you can see in all our work and in all our programs. Overall, the DFM is a pretty cool place to work, find out why and apply through the links below!

Myra Muramoto MD MPH FAAFP

Woodward-Chisholm Endowed Chair

"I love working for DFM because of our people and our friendly and supportive culture. I love that we care about all four of our mission areas and each other such that we keep improving our culture so that we all can thrive with work that brings us joy, meaning, and achievement. I am grateful for and proud of the way we are supporting each other and pulling together in a very challenging and chaotic time. This is what gives me confidence that we will come out the other side, both wiser and stronger."

Linda Montgomery MD MA FAAFPVice Chair for Educational Programs

"I love working at the DFM because every person I collaborate with is doing it for the greater purpose of exceptional patient care. This creates a positive, mission-driven, inventive spirit that is hard to find elsewhere. I wouldn't work anywhere else!"

Cleveland Piggott MD MPHVice Chair for Departmental Engagement

I'm incredibly thankful to work at a place that allows broad scope family medicine and with clinicians all passionate about giving the best care to every patient. I love the countless number of opportunities afforded for not only teaching the next generation. I'm in awe of our researchers as we have a strong national reputation for our work yet still have structures in place to support those of us early in our research journey. Lastly, I love this place because I have incredible colleagues that not only lift each other up but are committed to self-growth so we can work together to improve the lives of our diverse patients and communities.

Vice Chair for Research Programs

"It’s the people and the work. To be striving to improve care for real people with real issues is such a privilege and also to be part of the process for making working life better for our clinical teams as well. Then, to be doing this with others who have the same goal is incredible. During a time where doing this kind of work can be hard, it’s great that we can hold each other up."

Michael CahillDirector of Finance & Administration

"The Department of Family Medicine is a great place to work because it brings together people who care deeply about what they do and how they work together. The environment is collaborative, the work is purposeful, and there's a strong sense of connection between teams across clinical care, research, education, and administration. Employees are trusted to bring their ideas forward and are supported with the tools and relationships needed to make progress. It's a place where your contributions matter and where people take pride in solving problems and improving how things are done."

Brian BacakVice Chair for Clinical Affairs and Quality

"The PEOPLE! We have an amazing group of faculty and staff who are incredibly talented and give me energy every day.

The PATIENTS! Our patients are loyal and I’m so honored that they entrust us with their care and let us into their lives. It’s very special."
