Clinical Excellence

Along with a dedicated multidisciplinary transplant team, the Division of Pediatric Anesthesiology at Children’s Hospital Colorado (CHCO) provides exceptional perioperative care for these often critically ill children undergoing life-changing transplantation procedures. These procedures can range from the straightforward kidney transplant to the complicated liver transplant in a child with inherited metabolic liver failure and multiple organ system failure.   

Education

Fellows and residents at Children’s Hospital Colorado participate in these challenging and rewarding cases along with a dedicated a transplant anesthesiologist. Trainees are involved in the meticulous perioperative planning and delivery of the anesthetic which involves placing invasive monitoring, managing hemodynamics, administrating perioperative blood transfusions, and developing strategies for perioperative pain control.
