The Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Colorado School of Medicine (CUSOM) is proud to announce our Chris Myers Scholarship.
Christian “Chris” Myers is one of our beloved former AA students who passed away on February 21, 2025 after a courageous 16-month battle with triple negative breast cancer.
Chris was a bright light in our community—known not only for her fierce determination and boundless optimism, but also for the warmth and vibrance she brought into every room.
This scholarship has long recognized students who demonstrate leadership, advocacy, resilience, and a commitment to serving others—qualities that Chris lived every day of her life, even in the face of overwhelming adversity. Before Chris started the AA Program in 2023, she was working as a nurse in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at Children’s Hospital of Colorado, positively impacting her patients and colleagues. While in treatment, Chris’ mother shared that Chris continued to impact those caring for her, “Several doctors and nurses took me aside and told me that…Chris is lifting up all of those who are working with her…she is so smart and knows exactly what she’s up against, and yet here she is lifting us up with her joyful grace and courage.”
Her generous spirit, infectious energy, and unwavering kindness left a lasting mark on those fortunate enough to know her— family, friends, patients, students, faculty, and staff alike.
Any student in good academic standing and currently enrolled in the MSA Program can apply. Applicants meeting one or more of the following areas are strongly encouraged to apply:
