The mission of the Anesthesiology Residency Research Track is to integrate research and clinical training to develop clinician-scientists and leaders in anesthesiology research. Matched applicants receive the title Virtue Research Scholar in honor of our former Chairman, Dr. Robert W. Virtue. During the 1950s and 60s, his research was internationally recognized, and he set the foundation for the University of Colorado to be a research hub in the field of anesthesiology. Additionally, upon successful completion of residency and fulfilling your research obligations, our department will offer a $30,000 signing bonus to continue your career at CU.
We are committed to providing:
"I chose the University of Colorado because of the strong departmental track of faculty and residents successfully receiving research funding for their work and the availability of a T32 fellowship after residency. The department is incredibly supportive
and provides resources that allow the opportunity to present my work at national and international conferences. The Clinical Research Scholars program was the perfect fit for gaining additional experience in clinical investigation alongside my residency
training and will help me attain my goal of becoming an independent investigator and leader in Anesthesiology research."
- Elijah Christensen, CA-1 , inaugural clinical research trainee
Applicants expressing a strong interest and track record in research are reviewed by both the resident and research recruitment committees. Qualified applicants are offered to interview on a research-focused date and our top applicants are actively recruited.
Register here to join us for a Virtual Open House on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at 5 pm MDT, where you will have the chance to meet the program directors for the residency program, CACCM track, and Research track, as well as current residents.
