Global and Rural Health Opportunities

Global & Rural Health Pathway

The Global and Rural Health Pathway is designed for CU Aschutz OB-GYN residents with a specific interest in caring for patients in limited-resource settings, both in the US and abroad. Graduating residents will develop the knowledge, skills, and critical perspectives needed to advance health equity locally and globally. The pathway is a longitudinal four-year experience with rotations at the University of Global Health Equity in Rwanda and the Northern Navajo Medical Center in Shiprock, NM.

Rural Resident Rotation (R3)

The Rural Resident Rotation is a required rotation for all CU Anschutz OB-GYN residents in the PGY3 year. Aimed at improving awareness of and addressing the worsening rural maternal health crisis in America, residents will spend five weeks at one of two rural Colorado hospitals. Residents will have an understanding of the challenges of working in a rural environment, regardless of where they ultimately practice.
