CU Obstetrics and Gynecology Education Programs

A Message from the Vice-Chair of Education

Carolyn Lefkowits, MD, MPH, MS

Education is central to the identity and the mission of the Department of OB-GYN at the University of Colorado. We take great pride in our training programs spanning both undergraduate and graduate medical education.

Every single faculty member in the department participates as a preceptor in the University of Colorado School of Medicine's longitudinal integrated OB-GYN Clerkship for our medical students. We also offer a range of acting internships (AIs) for senior medical students from our own institution as well as visiting students from across the country.

In terms of our graduate medical education programs, we have a long and proud history of training OB-GYN residents that spans over 60 years. We also have seven OB-GYN fellowships, including both ACGME accredited (Complex Family Planning, Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility, Maternal-Fetal Medicine, Gynecologic Oncology, and Urogynecology & Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery) and non-ACGME programs (Pediatric & Adolescent Gynecology and OB-GYN Hospitalist).

We seek to train a diverse and passionate cadre of clinicians, educators, researchers, and advocates of the highest caliber who are not only excellent clinicians, but also aspire to have a broad impact on their communities. My personal priorities in my role include supporting program directors and undergraduate medical education leadership, growing educational scholarship within the department, promoting continued growth in diversity among our trainees and the faculty who train them, and supporting the professional development of junior faculty pursuing careers as clinician educators. We are so glad you've chosen to spend time learning about our educational endeavors. If I can answer any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to me directly at carolyn.lefkowits@cuanschutz.edu.
