CU OB-GYN Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Externship Scholarship

The University of Colorado OB-GYN Residency Program is committed to celebrating diversity in all forms.  Our mission is to foster a welcoming, inclusive program that actively employs strategies to recruit highly qualified residents from underrepresented groups in medicine to the University of Colorado.

CU OB-GYN Residency Mission Statement

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is excited to offer scholarships to visiting fourth year medical students from historically underrepresented groups applying to OB-GYN. The focus of this externship is to support the mission of the CU Anschutz School of Medicine to improving health outcomes of patients who come from marginalized backgrounds. The scholarship is intended to help cover travel, housing, and/or personal expenses during the student’s 4-week long rotation. The purpose is to support and guide medical students from underrepresented groups who have an interest in the OB-GYN Residency Program and University of Colorado SOM.

Scholarship recipients will complete a 4-week rotation in an approved OB or GYN acting internship elective focusing on serving patients from marginalized backgrounds with the following benefits:

  • Each recipient will be paired with a faculty and resident mentor
  • Each recipient will meet with the program director personally
  • Funding for $2500 for reimbursement of travel, housing, personal expenses
  • Complete a health equity project by the end of the rotation
