4th Year OB-GYN Clerkship Electives and Sub-Internships

Our fourth-year student program welcomes students from over 130 LCME accredited medical schools across the U.S. Like most medical schools, we use the Visiting Student Application Service (VSAS), which is an online application service developed by the AAMC for senior "away" electives. Please check with your institution to see if they use this service. In order to register for a rotation with our program, you will need to submit a request through VSAS. It is important to know that VSAS will not open for registration until March of each academic year.

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is excited to offer five scholarships to visiting fourth year medical students who intend to match into an OB-GYN residency program. The focus of this externship is to support the mission of the CU Anschutz School of Medicine to improving health outcomes of patients who come from marginalized backgrounds. The scholarship is intended to help cover travel, housing, and/or personal expenses during the student’s 4-week long rotation. The purpose is to support and guide medical students who have an interest in the OB-GYN Residency Program and University of Colorado SOM.

Eligibility and Application Details

The University of Colorado Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is committed to advising any medical student who is considering a career in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Jill Liss is the OB-GYN Clerkship and Medical Student Director for Phase III and IV students. She is happy to meet with any University of Colorado medical student who is contemplating a career in Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Dr. Liss can assist students with questions about career exploration, fourth-year scheduling, residency applications and specific information about residency programs. Students who are fully committed to a career in OB-GYN are encouraged to meet with the Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Nanette Santoro, MD.
