Dr. Ron-Li Liaw is featured in an article for Sentinel Colorado that talks about the partnership between the Cherry Creek School District, the Children’s Hospital Colorado and the CU Department of Psychiatry to operate the district's mental health day treatment center for students. Dr. Liaw believes finding providers for the center will be "a major recruitment effort" which is already underway.
Dr. Christian Hopfer's research paper on the Impacts of Recreational Cannabis Legalization was featured in a CNN News article. The research studied 111 pairs of identical twins, with one twin living in a state that legalized recreational cannabis and the other in a state that did not legalize it. Among the identical twins, researchers found the usage increased about 20% in states that legalized recreational cannabis compared with ones that did not - reaching the conclusion that legalizing recreational cannabis increases its use.
Dr. Amy Lopez was interviewed for Chalkbeat magazine on how educators are feeling about returning to school after 3 years of pandemic teaching.
AWARDS
Ayelet Talmi, PhD, won a Division 54 Student Poster Award at the American Psychological Association Convention for her research on postpartum mood symptoms both pre-pandemic and during the pandemic.
She also won a Division 54 Diversity Poster Award for her work on examining elevated PHQ-9A scores among Latinx adolescents in primary care. This poster was also presented at the 2022 American Psychological Association Convention.
PRESENTATIONS
CeDAR (Center for Dependency, Addiction and Rehabilitation) ranked #1 for best addiction treatment program in Colorado and #2 nationwide out of 330 facilities in Newsweek Colorado.
Lori Lee and Kasey Benedict received the Work Hard and Be Nice to People - Most Valuable Colleague award in recognition of their hard work and excellence.
