Dr. Liz Chamberlain was interviewed by Fox31. She provided tips on how to find and access affordable therapy.
Dr. Joseph Schacht spoke with Fox31 about the NIH clinical trial he is running to study the efficacy of different medications to treat alcohol use disorder. This work was also featured in a CU Anschutz Newsroom piece.
Dr. Joseph Schacht was included in a Denver Post article where he commented on the 2020 spike in alcohol-related deaths and how he hopes his research can help change that trend.
Emily Hemendinger, MPH, LCSW, was interviewed by Shoutout Colorado for their "local stories - how success happens" feature.
Dr. Patrick Fehling was interviewed in a UC Health Today article titled "Understanding bipolar disorder and addiction."
PRESENTATIONS
Dr. Jessica Kenny, Dr. Kimberly Kelsay, Dr. Maya Bunik, MPH, Shengh Xiong, BS,Amanda Millar, MSS, and Dr. Ayelet Talmi presented their poster, "Context Matters: Understanding the interplay between social determinants of health and adolescent depression in pediatric primary care" at the 2022 Society of Pediatric Psychology Annual Conference in Phoenix, AZ earlier this April.
Dr. Kathryn Margolis, Dr. Melissa Buchholz, Dr. Dominique Charlot-Swilley, Dr. Rahil Briggs, and Dr. Ayelet Talmi presented a professional development session titled "The roles of pediatric psychologists in sustaining and scaling primary care integrated behavioral health services" at the 2022 Society of Pediatric Psychology Annual Conference in Phoenix, AZ earlier this April.
The OCD Program had four conference proposals accepted for the in-person International OCD Foundation conference in July 2022. Emily Hemendinger, MPH, LCSW, Dr. Stephanie Lehto, Anna Korbel, and Dr. Rachel Davis will be presenting on cognitive flexibility, accommodation in families with adult children who have OCD, mindful social media use for high schoolers, and how to be assertive for high schoolers. The OCD Program also had two conference proposals accepted for the virtual IOCDF conference in November 2022. Emily Hemendinger and Dr. Rachel Davis will be presenting on the importance of including sexuality (e.g. identity, beliefs, satisfaction, sexual quality of life, etc.) in assessment and treatment planning and Dr. Rachel Davis, Dr. Michelle West, and Emily Hemendinger, MPH, LCSW, will be presenting on OCD and psychosis.
Dr. Robert Davies presented "Imagine...Informed Mental Health Care for the LGBTQ Community: Process and Impact of Creating a LGBTQ Mental Health Training Clinic" for the Association of LGBTQ+ Psychiatrists (AGLP) National Educational Series.
Dr. Michael Allen was a discussant in a talk at a national 988 Crisis Jam Learning Community meeting on April 20th (along with Drs. Marsha Ford, presenter, and Sandra Schneider, discussant). The talk was titled "Lessons for 988 from Poison Control." There were 254 participants.
Emily Hemendinger, MPH, LCSW, presented for a nutrition course at Salisbury University in Maryland. She spoke virtually on April 13th about mindful eating, mindful movement, and weight stigma/weight-neutral healthcare.
