Dr. Ayelet Talmi was interviewed in a recent Colorado Newsline article titled "A growing number of Colorado children have lost a caregiver due to COVID."Dr. Steven Berkowitz was featured in an interview with CU Anschutz. The article was titled "How Do We Cope When the War in Ukraine is Affecting Our Mental Health?" and he offered information on how to best cope with the current political situation, on top of our other modern-day stressors.
Dr. Ron-Li Liaw has had a busy start to 2022! She was named one of "7 women making moves in healthcare leadership" by Becker's Hospital Review. Dr. Liaw was also interviewed on the podcast Charting Pediatrics in an episode titled "Pivoting the Non-traditional Path to Pediatric Mental Health."
Dr. Liaw's appointment to "Mental Health-in-Chief" of Children's Hospital Colorado has been covered extensively by local and national outlets. She has given many interviews on her hope for the future of pediatric mental health in Colorado and her vision to better health outcomes through mental health care. COMMUNITY OUTREACH
With a PCORI COVID Supplement, the University of Maryland Institute for Implementation and Innovation, Children's National, and CU Anschutz Department of Psychiatry engaged a stakeholder team of parents and school staff to create and test a series of free parent support videos and tip sheets. These short videos are designed to give parents help to build new executive functioning skills. Dr. Laura Anthony, Dr. Bruno Anthony (co-investigator), Dr. Jessica Holmes (PRA), and Tennyson Dahlman (PRA) are also involved in this project.
AWARDS
CoPCAPP was selected for funding by the Behavioral Health Transformational Task Force in the amount of a $4.6M appropriation. Dr. Neill Epperson submitted the proposal to BHTTF which will greatly expand behavioral health workforce development across the state.
Dr. Phimphasone-Brady was selected to receive the North American Society for Psychosocial Obstetrics & Gynecology (NASPOG) 2022 Steiner Young Investigator Award (a $500 award). She will present her research talk, "Mental health chasm in polycystic ovary syndrome: The Endocrine And Mental Health (TEAM Health) Study" during the Steiner Young Investigator Symposium at the NASPOG Biennial Meeting, held April 2022.
Dr. Jessica Kenny presented at the 12th annual Children's Hospital Colorado Pediatric Advanced Practice Conference on February 7, 2022. Her talk was titled "Measuring up: Screening tools to address mental and behavioral health concerns in pediatric primary care."
