Feb 20, 2023MEDIA FEATURES
Dr. Joseph Sakai, an addiction psychiatrist, is featured in a Denver7 article. This article talks about how the recent closure of Colorado libraries due to meth contamination has put the methamphetamine epidemic back in the spotlight. This epidemic is often called the "silent epidemic" because it is not discussed as often as other drug epidemics. In this article, the struggle of recovering addicts is also discussed; individuals may face problems such as trying to find employment and safe housing while, at the same time, having to pay hundreds of dollars to get help to stay clean.
Get to know Emily Hemendinger in an article for CanvasRebel where she talks about her work as Clinical Director of the OCD Program at CU Anschutz Medical Campus.
The Denver Post featured Dr. Abby Norouzinia as she discussed how Valentine’s Day can be a difficult time for people who are victims of sexual assault, domestic violence or other trauma related to dating and romantic relationships.
Dr. Tyler Coyle expresses his relief regarding the recent elimination of the waiver needed to dispense buprenorphine in an article for The Denver Post. This waiver not only was difficult to obtain, but also created an air of hesitation, fear and stigma around buprenorphine. The elimination of the waiver is a step in the right direction for the future of addiction treatment.
