Dr. Jenna Glover was featured in an article for The Tribune that discusses the rising prevalence of eating disorders in teens and young adults since the pandemic. Dr. Glover discusses the reasons why someone might restrict their eating, such as unrealistic beauty ideals, an obsession with healthy living or trauma. This article also offers signs to watch for in eating habit changes of others.
Dr. Christian Thurstone was invited to speak in reaction to the North Carolina Senate Bill 711, the N.C. Compassionate Care Act. Dr. Thurstone shared his concern regarding Colorado’s extensive legalization of medical marijuana and some negative effects that this has had. In this article, he shares his worry about how this affects adolescents and their performance on school and IQ tests and how there has been a spike in traffic accidents where the driver tests positive for marijuana.
Emily Hemendinger, MPH, LCSW, was interviewed for a Q&A with CU Anschutz Todayabout the impacts of social media and influencers such as the Kardashians on eating disorders and unhealthy body image standards. Here, she answers questions such as "What are the causes of eating disorders?" and "What is your reaction to the Kardashians' weight-loss and body-shaping product promotions?"
