Activities for Kids

CRASH strives to be a very family friendly conference. If your children are too young to ride or ski and you don’t want to put them in child care all day, the following is a list of some of our suggestions:

  • Vail library. The children’s section is blocked off from the regular section. It faces the creek and has a wonderful play area including a giant Thomas the Tank Engine railway track, climbing areas, arts & crafts, toys and a wonderful story time and it’s FREE.
  • Riding the FREE Vail Valley buses. Off peak times are better. Stop and walk around where you want. A good way to explore the Vail Valley.
  • The pool and hot tubs at the Hythe Vail.
  • Riding the Gondola up and down. Free in the afternoon, otherwise there is a special gondola only ticket you can get, kids 12 and younger are free.
  • Avon Recreation Center. There is a bus, and the concierge can help set up transportation)-pool and indoor water park.
  • Several beautiful parks with play structures in and around Vail, most are open in the winter. Check with concierge.
  • Sleigh Rides at 4Eagle Ranch. There is also a little petting zoo and optional BBQ. This makes for a very fun day, but be sure to bundle up, it can get cold. The concierge at the Marriott can help arrange this activity.
  • Walking around town has a lot to offer. There are several great toy stores, friendly restaurants, and pretty places to see.
  • Minturn sledding hill.
  • Walking Mountain Science Center. The Science Center is open year round and free to the public. There are pre-school exploration programs on some mornings.
