Global Health Programs and Educational Opportunities

The CU Anschutz Department of Medicine Global Health Education oversees global health education initiatives. We offer exchanges for students, residents, and fellows globally. Our faculty collaborate worldwide to develop a skilled global health workforce and enhance national health systems.

Global Health Hospital Medicine Scholars Program: A one-year program trains hospitalist-leaders for resource-limited settings, combining international experience with training in Colorado. It is designed for internal medicine graduates pursuing careers in global health and underserved populations in academic medicine.

Programs

We are positioned to ensure equity in global health partnerships. We encourage the implementation of the Douala Equity Checklist as a 20-item tool HIC and LMIC institutions can use throughout the conduct of global health projects to ensure more equitable collaborations

The Colorado-Zimbabwe International Exchange (CoZIE) program fosters exchanges between the University of Colorado School of Medicine and the University of Zimbabwe College of Health Sciences. It aims to enhance internal medicine practice, teaching, and research.

·For DOM faculty, an annual call for applications is typically offered in the spring for faculty interested in spending approximately 2-4 weeks in Zimbabwe participating in teaching and educational activities, with support from the CU Anschutz Department of Medicine.

The Center for Global Health, in partnership with Children's Hospital Colorado and AgroAmerica, created the Trifinio Center for Human Development to promote population health and sustainable development in an extremely poor, rural region of southwest Guatemala.

·Through collaboration with the Colorado School of Public Health Center for Global Health and its Guatemala partners, CU learners have opportunities for clinical and community-based Global Health experiences in southwest Guatemala. The Trifinio partnership emphasizes community health, sustainable development, and providing care in resource-limited settings.

T he Global Health Hospital Medicine Scholars Program trains future hospitalist-leaders through a one-year program combining international work with training in Colorado.

Student Rotations and Observations offers foreign medical graduates and international students opportunities for clinical rotations and observerships within the CU Anschutz Department of Medicine.
