Medical Education and Innovation

two residents with posterThe CU-Med-Peds program emphasizes education and innovation. Residents have the opportunity to take part in innovative educational experiences and curriculum development.

Resident-led medical education initiatives within the Med-Peds program have included a medical humanities curriculum that was incorporated into our Academic Half Days and our new longitudinal REACH curriculum.

There are many resources and electives available for residents interested in medical education.

The Academy of Medical Educators is a great resource for residents who seek mentorship in medical education. Through the Academy, residents can participate in the medical educators elective. The Pediatric residency program also offers a teaching elective, called iTEACH.

Very early in the training, residents are encouraged to develop their skills as a teacher by teaching in selected academic half day sessions. These opportunities include but are not limited to:

  • R1-R2: Case presentations/didactics
  • R3: Journal Club
  • R4: M&M
