Student Rotations and Observations 
The CU Anschutz Department of Medicine at the University of Colorado offers foreign medical graduates and international students opportunities for clinical rotations or observerships in a dynamic healthcare setting. Participants gain hands-on experience, collaborate with faculty, and explore diverse medical practices while meeting program requirements like malpractice coverage and visa compliance.
Medical Students—Clinical Rotations
Applications for a clinical rotation are reviewed twice yearly in March and October. Applications received after the review has started during either of those months will be held and reviewed at the next application review period. For example, an application received in the middle of March may not be reviewed until October. It is best to get a completed application submitted by the end of February or the end of September to guarantee the most-timely review. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.
All students, whether their school participates in VSLO or not, should apply for sponsorship through the platform linked below.
Medical Graduates—Observerships
The application linked below will take applicants through the process of applying for a faculty sponsor, the first step in consideration for an observership within the Department of Medicine. If a sponsor is found, applicants will then need to fill out a more thorough observership application on the University of Colorado Hospital website, UCH Healthcare Service & Learning Experiences Portal.Applications to find a sponsor in the Dept of Medicine require a $100 application fee. Applicants will be directed to a link for payment after submitting the below application. Applications will be reviewed twice a year by the CU Anschutz Department of Medicine Leadership (March and October) and the review process can take up to 3 months. Please note that there is limited availability for an observership through the CU Anschutz Department of Medicine.
