Our neurovascular team sees patients of all ages — from one-day-old patients with vascular malformations to 100-year-old stroke patients. We are the only center in the state that offers the full gamut of open and endovascular surgical care for both adult and pediatric patients.

Cerebrovascular diseases affect the blood vessels and blood supply to the brain, potentially leading to medical emergencies, like stroke or aneurysm. Our physicians offer surgical expertise in stereotactic radiosurgery, embolization, and flow diversion for aneurysms and are actively involved in clinical trials.

Stroke and Brain Aneurysm Treatment

CU Anschutz is a regional leader in stroke care. UCHealth University of Colorado Hospital is a designated comprehensive stroke center. This designation is awarded to centers offering the highest level of stroke care by the Joint Commission of National Quality Approval and the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association. As one of only a few centers with this designation in the state, our physicians are trained to treat all types of stroke.

Our team also provides care at Children's Hospital Colorado, ranked in the top 10 best children's hospitals in the nation by U.S. News & World Report.

UCHealth is expanding emergency care to communities throughout the state to instantly connect local, on-site ER physicians and nurses at rural hospitals with neurologists and neurosurgeons on campus. UC Health Highlands Ranch Hospital is thrombectomy capable, providing advanced care for severe strokes in the South Denver metropolitan area.

UCHealth also provides the only mobile stroke unit in the state.
