Acoustic Neuroma Program Patient Testimonial

Christopher Aguilar

They were always open and honest about what was going to happen and how the whole process would go.

"To hear the words 'you have a tumor near your brain' is incredibly jarring to say the least. Though my doctor tried to emphasize that it was benign I was having a hard time getting past the location of this benign tumor. All I could think of was I needed to have brain surgery and I was scared. That is until I met with the team at UC Health. From the very first appointment, my family and I felt a thousand times more at ease with the diagnosis and the course of treatment. They were always open and honest about what was going to happen and how the whole process would go. They took the time to answer our questions and were even accommodating with my wife being on speakerphone during appointments when she couldn’t make it down to Aurora. The day of my surgery went exactly as they explained it would. My family was given regular updates on the progress of the surgery and my condition. After surgery I developed a slight complication with my heart and all the doctors worked cohesively to treat me and get me straightened out and home. This team is an amazing blend of professionalism and compassion. I am now three months post-surgery and am back to my normal life. I am even training for the Tough Mudder in July. Thanks to the team at UC Health what was once the scariest thing to happen to me is now just a blip on my radar.”
