Will my hair be shaved when I have surgery? Most likely not. In most cases, CU Neurosurgery's doctors only shave a small area to allow them to make the incision.
How long will I be in the hospital after a craniotomy?Typically, 2-3 nights. The first night is spent in the NeuroICU and then patients usually move to a regular bed after that. Hospital stays can be longer depending on the patient's condition following surgery.
What instructions should I follow after a craniotomy?Your provider will give you instructions that are specific to you prior to your discharge.
What are the symptoms of a stroke?
  • Sudden numbness or weakness in the face, arms or legs - especially on one side of the body
  • Sudden confusion or trouble speaking or understanding speech
  • Sudden vision trouble in one or both eyes
  • Sudden trouble walking, dizziness, loss of balance or coordination
  • sudden severe headache with no known cause
