We are so glad you are interested in the excellent education we provide to medical students, residents, fellows and researchers on the CU Anschutz Campus. The mission of our Neurosurgery Department Educational Program is to train extraordinary neurosurgeons and researchers who will be at the forefront of the field, as skillful surgeons, compassionate caregivers, and academic leaders advancing the cutting edge field neurosurgery.
We have a total of 14 residents and 6 fellows at any given time, and a faculty of 28 neurosurgeons, spanning four different hospital systems (CU/Anschutz Hospital, Children’s Hospital of Colorado on the Anschutz campus, the new Veterans’ Administration Hospital on the Anschutz campus and Denver Health Medical Center in the heart of downtown Denver). We also have four neuropsychologists, six PhD level scientists, 22 advanced practice nurses and PA’s, four research coordinators and ten admin staff – all part of our exciting Neurosurgery Department!
The residency program encompasses a total of seven years with internship, and includes training not only in general neurosurgery, but also critical care, interventional neuro-radiology, functional neurosurgery, spinal neurosurgery, neuro oncology and minimally invasive neurosurgery, and one dedicated year of neuroscience research. On this site, you will find information mostly about our residency and our fellowship programs (we have SIX fellowship opportunities!) and also some general information for prospective medical students or graduate level researchers.
If you have any questions or would like further information about the Neurosurgery Residency Program, Fellowship Program, or other opportunities, please contact the office at: 303-724-2302.
Good luck and thank you for your interest in our Neurosurgery Medical Education!
