Resident Wellness

Neurosurgery Resident Life

Dr. Christopher Roark, Director of the Neurosurgery Residency Program, has built a strong program for the residents that includes monthly outings, designated time to discuss difficult situations as a group, dedicated research time, and more. Dr. Roark fosters an overall supportive and nurturing environment for residents.

CU Anschutz neurosurgery residents spend a lot of time together both in and out of the hospital and clinic. The chief residents organize an annual resident retreat and faculty support attendance by handing off the resident pager to one of the advanced practice providers.

Wellness Resources

The CU Anschutz School of Medicine offers wellness programs to assist students completing graduate medical education. Resources offered support students’ mental health, financial wellness, physical health, and more. CU Anschutz also provides programs to assist students after an overnight shift, including sleep rooms and ridesharing reimbursement.
