Reporting Clinical Quality Measures
EvidenceNOW Southwest initiative findings on eCQMs
Robert | Family Medicine Aug 27, 2019This article presents the capacity and capability of primary care practices participating in the EvidenceNOW Southwest initiative to report on electronic clinical quality measures based on evidence-based guidelines for cardiac care.
The increasing prevalence of EHRs has prompted the electronic extraction of clinical quality measures (eCQMs) to become the standard for quality reporting programs.
Our findings suggest that clinical quality measure reporting still takes a great deal of time and effort, and as the health care system increasingly moves to value-based structures that require electronic clinical quality measures, some practices may be left behind without better incentives and support. Programs that require eCQM reporting should consider the time and effort practices must exert to produce these reports.
