Information for Providers

The Whole Person pain Service (WPPS) is a virtual service for those with chronic pain managed with opioids.

    WPPS is comprised of: 

    • Pain Management Providers: Family medicine providers who are experienced in pain management.
    • Clinical and Pain Psychologists: Offering evidence-based therapies for improved pain self-management and well-being.
    • Support Staff: Medical assistants and staff providing support and guidance throughout your pain management journey.

    The WPPS is a virtual service for those with chronic pain managed with opioids. This comprehensive solution works to improve patient outcomes and reduce provider burden.

    How Can the WPPS Help Providers?

    • Evidence-Based Care: Multidisciplinary, behavioral health-focused pain management.
    • Reduced Provider Burden: We handle all pain medication management, refills and prior authorizations.
    • Improved Patient Outcomes: Holistic approach addressing physical and psychological aspects of pain.
    • Enhanced Patient Engagement: Virtual appointments, regular check-ins and connections to PCPs keep patients engaged in their care.
      • Patient Referral: Primary care providers refer eligible patients.
      • Initial Assessment: Thorough evaluation to assess the patient’s pain, functional status and psychosocial factors.
      • Quarterly Group Visits: Psychologist-led group visits with a pain management provider, including:
        • Evidence-based behavioral health
          interventions
        • Comprehensive medication review
        • Three-month medication refills for stable
          patients
      • Primary Care Coordination: We coordinate with
        the patient’s PCP to ensure:
        • Timely urine toxicity screens
        • Updated controlled substance agreements
        • Annual check-ins for preventive care and other health concerns
      • As Needed Support: Our team provides:
        • Individual patient visits with a pain management provider
        • Interdisciplinary collaborative care conferences for high-risk patients
        • Responses to calls and inbox messages regarding refills
