Welcome!
University of Colorado Radiology Residency Program
On behalf of the Radiology Residency Program at the University of Colorado, thank you for your interest in our program! We are excited for you to learn more about us. We currently have 35 residents in our program, with each graduating class advancing to
complete competitive fellowships, research, and both academic and private practices. Our nationally and internationally recognized faculty is subspecialized in all fields of clinical radiology and radiologic research. You will learn from outstanding
educators and have the opportunity to perform innovative research in an intellectually stimulating environment.
There are many reasons you should join us at The University of Colorado!
Broad Clinical Exposure
Our residents are exposed to multiple practice settings due to the ability to rotate through four different affiliated hospitals. Each hospital has a distinct focus and area of expertise. These facilities include The University of Colorado –
Anschutz Medical Campus, Children’s Hospital Colorado, Denver Health Medical Center, and the Denver VA Medical Center. Our residents are exposed to nearly 1 million studies a year across these teaching hospitals, which are all
nationally acclaimed centers. Because of the high volume of studies performed at our teaching hospitals and excellent teaching provided by our faculty, our residents are afforded broad clinical exposure to all subspecialties of radiology with
no educational gaps.
Active Education
The educational mission at the University of Colorado remains a vital focus for the entire department. There is a favorable faculty to resident ratio with more than 80 subspecialty-trained faculty and 35 residents at all the hospitals. Daily
interactive conferences are given at three of the hospitals with teleconferencing for the remainder of the residents. In addition to the daily conferences, there are resident-run weekly hot seat conferences, Introductory Core Lectures, Emergency
Radiology Course lectures, and dedicated Radiology Physics preparation. Research months may be requested in addition to normal elective months, and all residents are given the opportunity to go to the AIRP. Greater than 90 percent of
the graduates in the past five years have pursued fellowships, and all of our graduates have entered competitive fellowship programs of their choice.
State-of-the-Art Facilities
The University of Colorado Hospital is part of a new billion dollar medical complex situated just east of downtown Denver in the newest academic medical campus in the country. The entire hospital, as well as the medical school and research facilities,
is new with state-of-the art radiology equipment. It is also one of the fastest growing, most comprehensive medical centers in the country. In addition, coming to CU means you have access to the Rocky Mountains and all that it has
to offer. The faculty and residents at the University of Colorado believe very strongly in our educational, research, and clinical missions. We further believe that we offer candidates many unique experiences during their residency that cannot
be found elsewhere. We look forward to showing you our program!
