University of Colorado, Department of Radiology
On behalf of all of my colleagues here in Denver, I’d like to welcome you to our website. Thank you for taking the time to learn more about our residency program. There are many important core values that define our program, some of which elude simple explanation on a website; but that said, I’d like to highlight a few important elements that help define our culture:
Cohesion: Our residents are a very tightly knit group who support each other under all circumstances. They pride themselves on accountability to each other and to patient care. This happens not just in the workplace but extends into personal and family lives too.
Inclusivity: Diversity is the backbone of our program, but inclusivity is its core strength. We are better students, teachers, doctors, scientists, and academicians when we all work together.
Commitment: Residency demands a commitment to developing excellence in all spheres of academic practice. Becoming an exceptional clinical radiologist takes time and commitment, as does developing scientific expertise. Patients and their physicians entrust us with their healthcare; it is a responsibility we will never take lightly.
Inquiry: Being able to ask unanswered questions and collaboratively search for solutions is deeply fulfilling and, frankly, a lot of fun. Our residents ask; together, we find answers.
Kindness: Radiology is a “high pressure, high stakes” specialty, as imaging has never been more vital for guiding healthcare decisions. In that environment, we must always remember to be kind to ourselves, each other, our colleagues, and our patients.
Our residency program offers an outstanding breadth and depth of clinical Radiology experiences. Our faculty are totally committed to your education and professional growth. We deeply value asking and thinking about unknown and unanswered questions.
We are the University of Colorado Radiology program, and we welcome you.
Sincerely,
Ilana Kafer, MD
