The Interventional Radiology Division at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus has a distinct mission: delivering superior patient care by utilizing innovative techniques across a broad spectrum of medical and surgical subspecialties. Our
unwavering commitment lies in providing unparalleled educational experiences to trainees at every level, with a specific emphasis on fostering the emergence of future leaders in the field of Interventional Radiology (IR). By aligning our clinical,
translational, and basic science research interests, we fortify our pursuit of scientific inquiry and exploration.
Our current trainees (PGY-6 or PGY-7) engage in an extensive caseload of 1200 to 1800 cases per year, encompassing a diverse array of vascular, oncologic, hepatobiliary, dialysis, pain/palliative, genitourinary, and gastrointestinal disorders. Additionally,
they have the opportunity to gain exposure to pediatric and neurointerventional procedures. Their learning extends to multidisciplinary conferences, outpatient clinics, and noninvasive vascular imaging. Our residents also benefit from rotations at
various teaching hospitals, enhancing their educational journey.
The University of Colorado IR Residency program is designed to facilitate board certification in Interventional Radiology. Both ESIR and non-ESIR candidates are welcome to apply through ERAS (ACGME ID 4150742001). Please refer to the SIR Guidelines for
Independent Applicants for further details.
In accordance with current AAMC recommendations, all interviews will be conducted virtually, ensuring a streamlined and accessible process.
This is a remarkably dynamic period in the realm of Interventional Radiology. We enthusiastically encourage all prospective applicants to reach out to our office for additional information. For further insights, the Society of Interventional Radiology
(SIR) website (https://www.sirweb.org) offers essential facts about the new IR residency and related topics.
We look forward to welcoming prospective candidates and sharing more about the exceptional opportunities within the University of Colorado IR Residency.
