Brain Alcohol Research Laboratory

Brain Alcohol Research Lab We are interested in better understanding how brain function relates to risky patterns of alcohol and cannabis use. We have several ongoing projects. We are recruiting individuals in treatment for Alcohol Use Disorder to complete two scans, once soon after beginning treatment, and again two weeks later to determine how brain function changes during early abstinence from alcohol. We are also examining the role of cannabis on brain function. We have trials that involve administration of THC and CBD, the two most prominent psychoactive ingredients in cannabis. We are also interested in acute drug administration methods to examine how neurotransmitter systems like dopamine and serotonin impact behavior and overall brain function.
