Emergency Radiology

Mission

The mission of the Emergency Radiology section is to provide rapid and high-quality radiology service assisting in the diagnosis and treatment of acutely ill or injured patients, and to provide teaching to the radiology residents and medical students at the University of Colorado School of Medicine.

Patient Care

The Emergency Radiology section is staffed by Radiologists board certified or board eligible by the American Board of Radiology. Our faculty utilize extensive experience interpreting cross sectional (ultrasound, CT, and MRI) and planar (X-ray) imaging to diagnose acute injuries and their complications at University Hospital, a nationally ranked academic medical center, and Denver Health Medical Center, a level-1 trauma center, and stroke center and Colorado's primary safety net healthcare institution.

Education

We participate in active supervision and education of the radiology residents rotating through our section. Section members are involved in the education of medical students and have contributed to quality-improvement projects as well as scholarly activity and research relevant to radiology and medical education. We provide an “On-call” Emergency Radiology lecture series for the first year radiology residents to prepare them for making timely diagnoses on critically ill patients.
