University of Colorado Asthma Research and Education (UCARE)

We are a team of scientists, doctors, and research assistants based out of the University of Colorado at Anschutz Medical Campus. We are dedicated to clinical and translational airway research in order to better understand the impact of obesity, metabolism and gene expression changes in asthma.

The UCARE Team is led by Dr. Fernando Holguin and Dr. Sunita Sharma. Both are faculty at University of Colorado and see patients in the Severe Asthma Program at the Center for Lungs & Breathing. They both oversee a large cadre of clinical and translational research projects.

The UCARE team brings over 50 years of combined clinical and research experience to the program.   Our research team is dedicated to helping identify new therapeutic strategies to improve the lives of those who have asthma.
