APP Medical Critical Care Fellowship Program

The Medical Critical Care Track of the APP Critical Care Fellowship Program was established in 2023 to prepare advanced practice providers for successful careers in academic critical care medicine. Our mission is to develop highly skilled, compassionate clinicians who practice with increasing autonomy, deliver evidence-based care, and serve as integral members of multidisciplinary critical care teams.

As a nationally recognized academic medical center with expertise in pulmonary and critical care medicine, the University of Colorado offers fellows exceptional clinical, educational, and scholarly opportunities. Fellows train alongside experienced physicians and APPs while caring for patients with some of the most complex medical conditions across a diverse spectrum of critical illness. Through close mentorship, progressive responsibility, and a structured competency-based curriculum, fellows develop the clinical reasoning, procedural skills, and confidence necessary for independent critical care practice.

The Medical Critical Care Track partners closely with our established Surgical and Surgical Critical Care APP Fellowships to provide a comprehensive critical care education across multiple intensive care units. In addition to core ICU rotations, fellows complete elective experiences with specialized services throughout the institution, broadening their exposure to advanced therapies and complex patient populations.
