A warm welcome to the University of Colorado – Pulmonary Sciences and Critical Care Medicine

Marc Moss, MD

Thank you for visiting our website and your interest in the Division of Pulmonary Sciences and Critical Care Medicine at the University of Colorado. We are very proud of our long and illustrious history. Our division seeks excellence in all aspects of academic medicine:

  1. striving to provide exemplary patient care,
  2. performing cutting-edge and innovative research, and
  3. training the next generation of highly skilled and engaged leaders in pulmonary and critical care medicine

We are also focused on creating a healthy work environment that values and promotes well-being in all of our faculty, staff, and trainees.

Many seminal discoveries in pulmonary and critical care medicine occurred here in Denver, including advances in tuberculosis, interstitial lung disease, airway disease, cancer, and critical care. Many of our former trainees have taken leadership roles in academic medicine, including Division and Department Chairs, Deans, and American Thoracic Society Presidents. However, we do not rest on our laurels. The division seamlessly integrates our diverse faculty from the four Affiliates—the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, National Jewish Health, Denver Health, and the VA Eastern Colorado Health Care System—to meet the ever-changing advances in healthcare. We continue to enhance all aspects of our division and training program, and as a result, we have seen tremendous and sustained growth. The clinical practice sites have built new hospitals, and there are multiple new research buildings across the campuses. We have been fortunate to strategically recruit tremendous new faculty members while retaining many of our former trainees. Though we are a large division, we foster an important sense of community that values diversity and inclusion.

The University of Colorado lives up to the Vision of “Four Campuses United: All Four: One,” and so do we. The Division of Pulmonary Sciences and Critical Care Medicine integrates diverse faculty from four Affiliates—the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, National Jewish Health, Denver Health, and the VA Eastern Colorado Health Care System—to create a truly unique Division: Four Affiliates – One Division.
